Shimian County in Sichuan is the only county named after a mine in Chinese. Located at the intersection of Ya 'an, Liangshan and Ganzi, it is an important passageway from the mainland to Yunnan Province and Xizang Autonomous Region and known as the "national corridor". The county covers an area of 2,678 square kilometers and has a total population of 120,400.

National road G108 line, provincial road S217 line and G5 Beijing-Kunming expressway intersect in the county. Once, a song "Welcome to Shimian" resounded throughout the country.
